Colourful Quirky Characters.

I have a weakness for anything that is a great colour, a quirky character or a minature collection. These lovely photos by Caterina Gabelli combine all three so I am sold!

Work in Progress...

It has been a while since I updated my blog and this is the reason behind my absence... 90 print designs just about complete and ready for printing onto fabric!

Still Life.

Love the composition and colour combinations in these still life paintings by
Danish artist Vilhelm Lundstrøm.

Parts of the Process.

In a bid to minimise waste and make the most out of all the materials I have started to develop designs using redundant pieces of wood I had left over after laser cutting. They provide innumerable possibilities! Everything comes in useful at some point!

Things Organised Neatly.

Just had a quick look back over some of my photos from my travels and found these beauties. I love things to be organised neatly! These bits and bobs couldn't help by catch my eye!

A Journey of Objects...

A journey of objects around my home (a few from Aunty Bet's and Tom's too!) Organised in neat rows, just as I like it!

More Pleats and Ruffles.

Continuing on from my previous post about designer Felicity Brown, here are a few shots from her current A/W 2011 Collection and if you liked the last lot, you're sure to love these! A more serene and almost demure style, but maintains lift through the movement and rippling of the dip-dyed ruffles.

Neat Rows and Collections.

an
Much of my inspiration comes from the cummulative beauty of every day objects and the unintentional organisation of sed objects. So I find the work of Lisa Milroy really interesting and can connect with her keen eye for collecting as well as the order and organisation in their presentation.

Climbing Wall...

Amazing climbing wall by Nendo in the Illoiha Store on Omotesando. Wish I had known about this when I was in Japan, this would be a really fun edition to my living room! Take a look at his website, he's done some amazing work!

Happy Town.

I love these! They remind me of my Kokeshi collection I found and collected on my travels around Japan. You can see the whole family at The Curiosity Shop and take a peek at the designers site Petit Collage here. Happy Wednesday!x

Lollipop Lollipop.

More colour work....this time with lollipop sticks! It took a long time to collect this many!

Sampson by James Plumb

This lovely little image landed in my inbox the other day and was an instant cheer me up in my moment of 'designers block'. This little creature is called Sampson and is by design duo James Plumb. He could definitly be permanent fixture in my home and would make up slightly for not being able to have my own puppy. On further investigation I realised they were the creators of my favourite piece at the 'Homeworks' exhibition that I took part in last year. I think the Bambi Table was secretly made for me...it combines my love of upcycling furniture with my vintage collection of Bambis. Yes please, I will take it!

Hang It Up.

Making use of old chair backs Antonello Fusè up-cycles them to create unique coat hangers - too nice to cover up!

Drawing Day...

So the time as come where I actually have to put pen to paper and attempt to do some drawing. I am going to begin by trying to capture the different personalities of my collection of coat hangers...here goes!

Cut. Paint. Stick.

More fun with paperclips... This time adding a touch of colour from the palettes I developed earlier. I love the  finish of the paperclips against the plywood and the distorted shadows will make wonderful prints. I think i can work with this, so this is hopefully the turning point! Things are looking up!
