Mr Peg.

Whenever I'm at the V&A I can't help but have a sneaky peek in the design shop. And this time I picked up this cute Mr Peg card by Alice Melvin, although I think Mr Peg is going to remain updressed as I don't have the heart to cut the card up!

Much of my inspiration comes from the cummulative beauty of every day objects and the unintentional organisation of sed objects. So I find the work of Lisa Milroy really interesting and can connect with her keen eye for collecting as well as the order and organisation in their presentation.

Drawing Day...

So the time as come where I actually have to put pen to paper and attempt to do some drawing. I am going to begin by trying to capture the different personalities of my collection of coat hangers...here goes!

ISAK: Beautiful Happy Things

I love the whole ethos of ISAK Design, a company created by Scandinavian designer Sandra Isaksson and inspired by her heritage and travels...

'ISAK was born from a love of family and friends; these are the most important things to us. Our goal is to make the world a better place. We take everyday objects and add some beauty and happiness.'

An injection of colour and humour make Isaksson's illustrations irresistible and I can't help but smile every time I see them. I was delighted that the Inger and Ollie print was waiting for me on my arrival back in the UK. I can't wait to get it framed and up on the wall! Postcards I bought today for colour inspiration. These pieces by Yoshiaki Funamizu are created by delicately tearing colourful papers.

Colobockle

So in Japan it seems one of the best ways to compliment someone is to say they are 'cute' and alongside that, as you might expect, there are lots of cute and colourful cartoons and characters that advertise, decorate and fill the shops over here. So in my opinion this is one of the cutest illustrators I have come across in a while. This is Colobockle, I stumbled across the brand in a lovely little shop in the Daikanyama district of Tokyo and I am dying to visit the original shop before I leave. I love the cut and stick nature of the characters and illustrations and the vintage styling of the shop. One of these characters will be coming home in my suitcase!

Eye Test...

Because at the moment I have very little chance of getting my hands on an original Finn Juhl or Hans J. Wegner, I have been on the search for the perfect poster, so my love of Danish designed chairs can feature somewhere in my home. Here are a couple of my favourites by Blue Art Studio.

You Can Still do a Lot With a Small Brain.

On a lovely crisp sunny Sunday I took a trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park to see the wonderful work of Rob Ryan. It was more delightful than I could possibly have imagined and I was desperate to purchase an original RR piece but my purse unfortunately was not deep enough. I did leave with the exhibition booklet and a lovely laser cut card... all that I could afford, but neither disappoint! Well worth the visit!

Oh I do wish I could eat my tea off of this lovely Seletti Palace dining set...(sigh)...fit for a queen indeed it is! It's sure to make any thrown together meal look good and make eating even more of a delight!... Thinking about it I’d like it just to sit and look pretty on my shelf, think this could be just too good to use, even on special occasions!
