I feel like it is time to get the Spring and dare I say Summer wardrobe out! I would love this cute printed dress to add to my very (ahem) small collection of frocks from Spanish label La Casita de Wendy.

Bits Bench.
Love this Bits Bench by Fulo, a great alternative upholstery and puts a new perspective on the what I could apply my plywood designs to. Hoping I get to see this in person at Milan Furniture Fair in a couple of weeks! Eek! (via Design Boom)

Mr Peg.
Whenever I'm at the V&A I can't help but have a sneaky peek in the design shop. And this time I picked up this cute Mr Peg card by Alice Melvin, although I think Mr Peg is going to remain updressed as I don't have the heart to cut the card up!

Culture Clash.
The styling of this shoot is weird and wonderful, but there is something really beautiful about these images. I think it is the way Charlotte Taylor uses traditional references and the clash of many cultural influences. This combined with the bold quirky prints and jewel like colours means sometimes more is more!

Workshop.
A few snaps from the workshop I ran with level 2 Product and Furniture Design students. They took on a new challenge; exploring ways of incorporate different materials and considering their potential applications. They came up with some great ideas and I'm looking forward to seeing the final boards in the next few weeks. Hopefully this will turn into a great collaboration!

David David.
David David...so good they named it twice! I love these bold and beautiful prints from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection; incoporating great use of colour and placement. The shirt at the top is my favourite...one for the wish list!

Laser Cut Leathers
Really good to see how other designers are using laser-cut leather within their work. These sculptural statement pieces are by Yasmin Siddiqui. I love the utilisation of the leather - outlines become just as important as the layered cutout pieces. This is a technique I have been using in my work in order to try and get the most out of the material and I have found that often it is the parts that were intending to be left overs that become the most interesting! Images by Christopher Moore.

More Pleats and Ruffles.
Continuing on from my previous post about designer Felicity Brown, here are a few shots from her current A/W 2011 Collection and if you liked the last lot, you're sure to love these! A more serene and almost demure style, but maintains lift through the movement and rippling of the dip-dyed ruffles.

Accordion Cabinet.
Great design and really lovely rawness in the styling of this Accordion cabinet; the result of a collaboration between Elisa Stroyzk and Sebastian Neeb. Perfect combination of nostalgia and contemporary play!

Work in Progress...
Who would guess that this pile of mess could be made into these sculptural and decorative boxes? Not me! Can hardly believe i managed to do this. Progress is being made...finally!

Memory Bank: Please Take a Quick Snap...
Please will you take a couple of minutes to take a photo…
For my current research I am aiming to create a record of important objects which I would like to use as inspirational imagery to develop into prints.
1. Think of an object you own that you consider to be special/important/cherished/holds memories to you.
2. Take a quick photograph of it.
3. Email to katyaston.design@hotmail.co.uk or send me a link on twitter @FisonZair
All objects will remain anonymous and It is up to you if you wish to add a description of what it is and what it means to you.
