NEW DESIGNERS: Celia and Sidney.

I will be heading down to New Designers in London next week to showcase my next collection and introduce 'Celia and Sidney' new friends of the Fison-Zair studio. Snuggly Stools.

I love these fun and ever so snuggly statement stools by Claire-Anne O'Brien. I would very much like one...or all of them actually, can't choose between the beautiful colours and textures!

Mummy Chair.

I have been doing a little research into alternative upholstery and remebered these from a few years back. The Mummy chair by Peter Traag is wrapped using 55 metres of elasticated polyester ribbon and is a great way to personalise and update tired furniture. My dedicated post for Mother's day! xx

Workshop.

A few snaps from the workshop I ran with level 2 Product and Furniture Design students. They took on a new challenge; exploring ways of incorporate different materials and considering their potential applications. They came up with some great ideas and I'm looking forward to seeing the final boards in the next few weeks. Hopefully this will turn into a great collaboration!

Accordion Cabinet.

Great design and really lovely rawness in the styling of this Accordion cabinet; the result of a collaboration between Elisa Stroyzk and Sebastian Neeb. Perfect combination of nostalgia and contemporary play!

Bojagi

I really like the idea of wrapping of concealing a cube within a piece of cloth. So today I did a little research on Bojagi, which in Korean culture refers to a traditional piece of cloth that is used to wrap and carry things in. I love the idea of wrapping up gifts like this - so nothing is wasted and every part is kept and treasured. Above are different styles and methods used for Bojagi, beautifully styled and captured in these prints by Sookang Kim.

Sliding Draws...

After days of trying to compose my new colour palettes and doubts about what is working and what is not, a little refreshing research was in order to reassure me that lots of colour can be a good thing! These stackable draw compartments by Raw-Edges Design Studio are a great example of use of colour and also of how the viewer can adapt and change a design to suit their taste and needs.

Monty the Fox.

Another item from my wish list gratefully received! I was thoroughly spoilt this year! Monty the Fox was definitely worth the wait though!

Giddy Up!

Ok, so when dreaming of my ideal bike it was a beautiful sky blue with a shrill brring of a bell and idyllic wicker basket, that was, until I saw this! Horsey is designed by Eungi Kim who hoped it would encourage people to care more about cycling not only as transport but also as a lovely pet! It's so fun! This project was part of the Seoul Cycle Design Competition organised by Design Boom in collaboration with Seoul Design Foundation.

I am in Love...

I have the most perfect spot for a beautiful Finn Juhl sofa. I love the work of many Danish designers, but Juhl could possibly be my favourite. The playful use of colour and organic forms still look really contemporary today....I just need to get saving, yet again!
