Work in Progress...

It has been a while since I updated my blog and this is the reason behind my absence... 90 print designs just about complete and ready for printing onto fabric!

Parts of the Process.

In a bid to minimise waste and make the most out of all the materials I have started to develop designs using redundant pieces of wood I had left over after laser cutting. They provide innumerable possibilities! Everything comes in useful at some point!

Laser Cut Leathers

Really good to see how other designers are using laser-cut leather within their work. These sculptural statement pieces are by Yasmin Siddiqui. I love the utilisation of the leather - outlines become just as important as the layered cutout pieces. This is a technique I have been using in my work in order to try and get the most out of the material and I have found that often it is the parts that were intending to be left overs that become the most interesting! Work in Progress...

Who would guess that this pile of mess could be made into these sculptural and decorative boxes? Not me! Can hardly believe i managed to do this. Progress is being made...finally!

Box Full of Suprises.

I have been doing a little research on boxes, what people put in them and the suprises that looking inside can hold. This is a really cute example by Thundercut.

Laser Cut Characters.

Really cute laser cut shapes and jewellery by Joanna Rutter. The little characters are really sweet and great inspiration! Could become my sideline if the laser cut plywood takes off!?
